What is "Tabo"?
The word tabo has different meanings. In Luzon, it means water dipper or scoops for Tagalog. In Mindanao and Visayas, it means "the market" for the Bisaya.
The term "market day" can be the primary or busiest day of the week when the market is at its most active and bustling with vendors and customers. Most vendors have spaces to utilize at a specific location in a public place. Once "Tabo Day" ends, they return to their original places.
Tuesday is "Tabo Day"
In the Municipality of Loreto, Agusan del Sur, the schedule of Tabo is every Tuesday. Many local vendors from neighboring barangays and municipalities come together at the New Loreto Public Market (outdoor premises) to display and sell their produce and non-food products.
In this blog, we embark on a delightful journey through the "tabo-an" world, exploring the diverse activities, unique offerings, and rich tapestry of interactions that make these gatherings an enriching experience for all.
